Okay, fam, lemme tell you, being stuck in the 1930s definitely has its moments. Like, I’m over here in Kyoto, which is already blowing my mind. But hitting up the local market? Total sensory overload in the BEST way! Imagine all the foodie content just waiting to be captured… But then, reality hits, right?
The Kyoto market is straight-up gorgeous, a total explosion of colors and smells. I filmed a quick vid for you guys (check it out when I figure out how to upload to YouTube from this era, lol). Seriously, the pickled veggies, the fresh fish, everything is just…wow. Tom was all in, munching on roasted chestnuts like there was no tomorrow. Found the discarded chestnut bag in a bin with the coolest Japanese lettering, kinda makes you think about the everyday life of the people living here. But here’s the thing that’s bugging me: is this gonna be around forever?
I’m seeing all this incredible, traditional stuff, and I can’t help but wonder if future generations will get to experience this same authenticity. Modernization is a beast, y’all. It’s like, can we please protect these cultural treasures before they disappear? Seriously thinking if cultural preservation is going to be a thing 100 years from now, it needs some love.
Documenting all this for you guys is kinda my mission now. Trying to capture the realness of this era. Gotta keep these memories alive, even if I’m the only one who knows the future. Kyoto, you’re amazing, but let’s make sure you stay that way, k?
