Kyoto’s Snack Game: 1932 Edition (So. Many. Textures!)

Okay, so picture this: one minute you’re scrolling TikTok in 2025, the next you’re face-planting into the most bewildering street food scene EVER, circa 1932. My brain is officially fried (pun intended?). Kyoto, you’re doing the most, in the best way possible.

This dried fish stall legit blew my mind. The sheer variety of textures was something else. I mean, we’re talking next-level weird and wonderful. Apparently, umami was a big thing back then, and I’m here for it. This whole experience has me feeling seriously fascinated. It’s wild seeing how people snacked almost a century ago!

While snapping a close-up, I spotted something glinting between the floorboards. An old coin! Seriously ancient looking. I picked it up, checked out the design (so intricate!), and then put it back where I found it. Felt like I was touching a piece of history, you know? It’s like, who dropped this? What were they buying? Was it enough for a snack?

Kyoto is seriously messing with my head in the best possible way. Documenting all this for you guys because history is NOT boring, promise. Stay tuned for more adventures from this crazy time-travel trip!
