Okay, hold up, time-travelers and history buffs! My brain is still processing what I just witnessed. Imagine scrolling through TikTok and suddenly being smacked in the face with pure, unadulterated emotion… except, like, IRL and a hundred years ago. Yeah, that’s basically my life now. Let me tell you about it.
I was wandering around Buenos Aires, trying not to stick out like a sore thumb in my, admittedly historically inaccurate, outfit, when I heard this music. Like, soul-shaking, heart-wrenching music. I followed the sound and BOOM – a tango performance in the middle of a plaza. These dancers were *feeling* it. The passion, the longing…it was like a scene straight out of a movie. The raw intimacy of the dance was insane, and I couldn’t help but think about how much we miss out on in our hyper-connected, digital world. Like, put down your phone for five seconds and actually *connect* with someone, you know?
So, I’m scoping out a good spot to take a video for the ‘gram (Gotta document this craziness somehow!), and I lean against a ledge near the bandstand. Lo and behold, some kind soul left behind an alfajores, like the little cookie! I took a bite before I thought about who left the cookie and now I’m kinda regretting it, but oh well. I didn’t want it to go to waste.
Honestly, this whole experience was a vibe. Seeing this sliver of history come to life is crazy. It just proves that no matter what year it is, people are still people. Still craving connection, still feeling all the feels. Documenting this journey one alfajores at a time.
